Zambia, China Presidents commit to enhancing trade cooperation as they meet in Beijing

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing to discuss China-Zambia relations, China-Africa relations, and global and regional issues of mutual interest. The leaders announced the elevation of China-Zambia relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and agreed to establish an investment cooperation working group mechanism. They also pledged to enhance trade cooperation and designated 2024 as the Year of Business Cooperation. The Chinese side expressed support for Zambia's investment promotion activities and invited Zambia to participate in the China International Import Expo. President Hichilema's state visit will end on September 16.
