Yum China says tech investments let it open more stores without needing more staff

Yum China, which operates KFC and Pizza Hut in China, is investing in technology to open more stores without hiring additional staff. CEO Joey Wat stated that the number of stores increased by 80%, while the staff count remained flat at around 430,000 people. The company plans to invest $3.5 billion to $5 billion over the next three years to expand its store network, improve its supply chain, and enhance digital capabilities. Yum China is also focusing on integrating technology into its logistics centers to reduce labor costs, operating costs, and food waste.
