EU sends aid to Libya as devastating floods death toll rise to over 11, 000

The European Union has provided 500,000 euros ($533,290) in aid to Libya after deadly floods caused by storm Daniel. Additional assistance may be sent in the coming days. Several European countries have also offered support, including shelters, generators, medical teams, and search and rescue helicopters. The worst-hit area was Derna, where two dams collapsed and caused widespread devastation. Libyan health officials have confirmed 11,300 deaths, with 10,100 people reported missing. Germany has sent the first plane carrying aid supplies, including tents, beds, sleeping mats, bags, and generators, worth around 500,000 euros ($534,000).
