Parts of the world have already grown too hot for human survival

A new study conducted by researchers from the University of Oxford and the Woodwell Climate Research Center has found that parts of the world have already exceeded the "noncompensable heat threshold," which is the point at which a person can no longer maintain a healthy core temperature without taking action to cool off. The study identified 21 weather stations that experienced conditions exceeding this threshold between 1970 and 2020, mainly in the Persian Gulf and South Asia. As global warming continues, more regions will face dangerously hot conditions, including wealthier countries in North America and Europe.
