Please address Vietnam’s human rights abuses, prisoners’ families beg Biden

Relatives of Vietnamese political prisoners have called on US President Joe Biden to address Human Rights Abuses in Vietnam during his visit to Hanoi. Vietnam and the US are expected to announce an upgrade in diplomatic ties, but the families are urging Biden to remember the prisoners of conscience in the country. Vietnam has imprisoned over 150 political prisoners, according to Human Rights Watch. A coalition of Vietnamese diaspora pro-democracy organizations and human rights groups have also made similar pleas for greater freedoms and press freedom in Vietnam. Representatives from the Khmer Krom Federation also called for the release of Khmer Krom people arrested for distributing books on indigenous peoples' rights.
