Two 9/11 victims identified more than two decades after World Trade Center attacks

Two Victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks have been identified more than two decades later, bringing the total number of identified victims to 1,648 and 1,649. The names of the victims, a man and a woman, have been withheld at the request of their families. Around 40% of the victims' remains have still not been found. The identification process has been described as the largest and most complex forensic investigation in U.S. history. The announcement comes just before the anniversary of the attacks. The U.S. went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq in response to the attacks, resulting in the deaths of over 6,700 U.S. troops.
