Hurricane Lee Could Become Atlantic’s 1st Category 5 Storm of Season

Hurricane Lee is projected to become the first Category 5 storm of the Atlantic season, although it is not expected to make landfall. The Hurricane is currently located east of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving west-northwest at 24 kph with winds of up to 215 kph. It is expected to continue strengthening and remain a major hurricane into next week. The storm poses a threat to the northeast Caribbean, with tropical storm conditions possible on some islands. Additionally, Hurricane Jova is churning through open waters in the Pacific but poses no threat to land.
