Military junta ‘frees’ ousted Gabonese president Ali Bongo

Gabon's former President Ali Bongo, who was ousted in a military coup, has been granted freedom to leave the country and travel abroad, according to the leader of the coup. Bongo's father, Omar, ruled Gabon for 41 years before him, and the coup leader claimed that the event was more of a "palace revolution" perpetuating the "Bongo system."
