This California high school includes sustainability and green jobs in its curriculum

Porterville, California's School district has partnered with Climate Action Pathways for Schools (CAPS), a nonprofit organization, to provide high school students with environmentally-focused education and job opportunities. Through the CAPS program, students are trained for internships that teach them about sustainability and how to lower their school's carbon footprint. They earn wages while participating in projects such as bike rodeos, energy audits, and promoting local food in cafeterias. The program has saved the district $850,000 on its energy budget and has a 100% college enrollment rate for participants. CAPS is part of a larger trend of career-technical education programs preparing students for green jobs.
