Burning Man’s climate reckoning has begun

Burning Man, an annual festival in Nevada, aims to become "carbon negative" by 2030, but recent events have exposed the gap between its environmental goals and reality. Climate protesters blocked the festival's entrance demanding stronger environmental commitments, while torrential rain caused chaos and stranded attendees. Ironically, Burning Man has also opposed a renewable energy project in its own backyard, filing a lawsuit against the Bureau of Land Management's approval of geothermal wells in the area. Despite the opposition, the Washoe County Commission voted against the project, which experts say could have helped reduce carbon emissions.
