Adama Ben Diarran, head of the Yerewolo-Debout sur les Remparts association in Mali, has been placed in Police Custody for allegedly undermining the credit of the state. Diarran, also a member of the National Transitional Council (CNT), had called on the military junta to respect the duration of the transition before civilians regain control. The junta, which took power after overthrowing President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta in August 2020, has demanded the withdrawal of French and UN forces and has turned towards Russia for support. Mali has been grappling with a security crisis since 2012.
