Berlin Wall Relic Has ‘Second Life’ on US-Mexico Border

Mexico has laid a 3-ton concrete slab from the Berlin Wall near the US-Mexico border as a statement against walls and in favor of building bridges. Tijuana Mayor Montserrat Caballero, who considers herself a migrant, unveiled the installation titled "A World Without Walls" in August. The relic sits between a bullring, a lighthouse, and the US border wall. Caballero has faced threats and currently lives in a military barracks due to concerns for her safety. The Biden administration has halted wall construction but plans to continue with small, contracted projects, including replacing parts of the existing wall in San Diego.
