‘Bandh’ Observed in Beed to Protest Police Action Against Maratha Quota Agitators in Jalna

A 'bandh' (shutdown) was observed in Beed, Maharashtra, in protest against police action on those hunger striking for Maratha community reservation in Jalna. The shutdown, called by the Maratha Kranti Morcha, was mostly peaceful, although incidents of stone pelting were reported. The main protests were held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and in front of the Beed collectorate, and the shutdown also affected areas like Dharur, Ashti, and Ambajogai talukas. Around 40 policemen were injured and several buses were set on fire during the violence in Jalna, with 360 people booked for involvement.
