Jodhpur Lawyers on Strike Against CM Gehlot’s ‘Corruption’ in Judiciary Remark

Lawyers in Jodhpur, Rajasthan went on a one-day Strike in protest of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's comment suggesting "corruption" in the judiciary. Gehlot had stated that some judges might be reading out orders drafted by lawyers. However, he later clarified that his statement did not reflect his personal opinion and that he respects the judiciary. The strike affected work in lower courts and the high court in Jodhpur. The President of the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association stated that nearly 10,000 advocates participated in the strike. Former Allahabad High Court chief justice Govind Mathur criticized Gehlot's comment as irresponsible and objectionable.
