SC Reserves Verdict on Plea of National Conference Against Denial of Plough Symbol to Candidates for Ladakh Polls

The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on a plea by the National Conference challenging the denial of the 'plough' symbol to its candidates for the upcoming Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) polls. The Additional Solicitor General argued that the election symbol order of 1968 does not apply to local body elections and reserved symbols are only allocated to recognised national political parties. The elections are scheduled for September 10.
