Conservation officers look for killer of grizzly bear near Squamish, B.C.

The B.C. Conservation Officer Service is investigating the illegal killing of a grizzly Bear near Squamish, B.C. The bear was found floating in the Squamish River with a rope tied around it, and a necropsy revealed that it had been shot. Hunting grizzlies in B.C. has been banned since 2017, and failing to report a shooting of wildlife is also illegal. The bear had been relocated three years ago and was known to frequent the area around the confluence of the Cheakamus and Squamish rivers. The public is urged to contact the RAPP line with any information about the bear's death.
