China says drop in trade with the U.S. is ‘a direct consequence of U.S. moves’

China's ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, has attributed the Drop in trade between the two countries to U.S. tariffs and export controls. China-U.S. trade fell by 14.5% in the first half of the year, and in July, there was a 15.4% decline compared to the same period in 2022. Xie warned that decoupling between China and the U.S. poses the biggest risk, and called for expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation and trade. He also criticized the U.S.'s executive order restricting investments in Chinese companies, calling it a violation of free trade.
