Nuh Violence: Khattar Denies Permission for Yatra on Aug 28; Security Tightened as VHP Firm on Procession

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has denied permission for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal's proposed Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh, citing concerns over potential violence. He urged devotees to instead pray in their local temples. The VHP had asserted that the procession would go ahead despite the denial, but authorities have tightened security measures, including closing educational institutions and banks, deploying drones, and suspending mobile internet and bulk SMS services. The denial of permission comes after clashes between two groups during a VHP procession in Nuh on July 31, resulting in six deaths.
