President of Guyana Demands Slavery Reparations

Guyana President Irfaan Ali has demanded that descendants of European slave traders pay reparations to today's generations and be charged posthumously for crimes against humanity. He called for a formal apology from the descendants of Scottish plantation owner John Gladstone, who received compensation for hundreds of slaves. The Gladstone family is set to apologize in Guyana, and former BBC journalist Laura Trevelyan, whose family also owned slaves, will be present. Caribbean nations, including Guyana, are seeking financial compensation from Britain and other European countries, and have hired a British law firm to examine their case.
