Trial to Begin Over Biden Policy Letting Migrants From 4 Countries Into the US

A Trial has begun in a Texas federal courtroom to debate President Joe Biden's immigration policy that grants parole to thousands of people from Central America and the Caribbean. The program allows up to 30,000 people each month to enter the US from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Texas, along with 21 Republican-leaning states, is leading a lawsuit to stop the program, claiming the Biden administration has overreached its authority. The trial is being presided over by U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton, who was appointed by Donald Trump. The parole program has been successful at reducing migration to the southwest border, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
