Prominent Tibetan language activist and former political prisoner attacked

Tashi Wangchuk, a prominent Tibetan Language Activist and former political prisoner, was attacked by unidentified men in eastern Tibet. He had traveled to the region to raise awareness about the disappearance of the Tibetan language in schools. Wangchuk was beaten by the assailants, who forced him to erase all the photos and videos he had taken earlier that day. After reporting the incident to the police, Wangchuk was taken to the police station for questioning. He was later rejected by multiple hotels and denied medical care. The attack has been condemned by leaders and activists inside and outside Tibet.
