Private schools and grammar schools have experienced a significant drop in top GCSE grades as the UK government aims to return to pre-pandemic standards. Around 200,000 fewer GCSE entries achieved a Grade 7 or above, resulting in a fall in the share of top grades to 22%, down from 26.3% last year.
