BRICS: Brazil President Lula da Silva defends closer ties with Africa

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva emphasized the importance of closer ties with African countries during his speech at the BRICS Business Forum in Johannesburg. The BRICS group, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, already represents a significant portion of the world's population and economic output. Lula da Silva stated that Africa offers vast opportunities for growth and that the BRICS have a unique chance to shape global development. Former president Jair Bolsonaro did not visit the African continent during his term. The meeting was attended by the President of South Africa and the Prime Minister of India.
