Ecuador says overseas voting system hit by cyberattacks amid election

Ecuador held a special Election for a new president on Sunday amid concerns of violence and cyberattacks. The country's electoral authority reported no violent incidents at voting centers, but said the electronic voting system for Ecuadorians living abroad was targeted by cyberattacks from China, India, and Bangladesh. The election came after the assassination of a presidential candidate earlier this month, and the winner will serve the remainder of President Guillermo Lasso's term, which is less than two years.
