Cruise told by regulators to ‘immediately’ reduce robotaxi fleet 50% following crash

Cruise, the self-driving car subsidiary of GM, has been asked by regulators to reduce its Robotaxi Fleet by 50% in San Francisco following a crash with a fire truck. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is investigating "concerning incidents" involving Cruise vehicles in the city. The DMV has called for Cruise to have no more than 50 driverless vehicles in operation during the day and 150 at night until the investigation is complete. Cruise has stated that it is complying with the request and will work with the DMV to reinforce the safety of its fleet.
