Angola takes up one year rotating presidency of regional bloc SADC

Angola has taken over the presidency of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and called on member states to speed up the ratification of the Development Fund, which raises finance for regional industrialization. President João Lourenço pledged to diversify funding sources and reduce dependence on international cooperation partners. He emphasized the need for investment in electrification, ethanol production, and food production to support industrialization. Lourenço also highlighted the importance of expanding and interconnecting road and rail networks, improving maritime and air links, and investing in human capital through training and vocational qualifications.
