Bishoy Sharif Naji Naseef was found guilty of beating, strangling, and mutilating his Egyptian father, as well as attempting to kill another person. Saudi Arabia has faced criticism for its frequent use of capital punishment, undermining its efforts to improve its image through social and economic reforms. Last year, the country was the world's third most prolific executioner, and over 1,000 death sentences have been carried out since King Salman assumed power in 2015.
