Six Royal Mail Postal workers have been fired after being suspended for drinking tea and coffee at pubs during their breaks. The workers were among 11 suspended from a delivery office in Wirral in July. Three were later reinstated and one received a penalty, while the outcome for the remaining individual is unknown. The sackings followed complaints from locals who claimed delays in their post had resulted in missed medical appointment reminders and wedding invitations. The Communications Workers Union has called for the suspended staff to be reinstated, with a number of other postal workers reportedly resigning in protest.
