Aussie star Chalmers drops retirement bombshell

Australian swimming star Kyle Chalmers has announced that he plans to retire from competitive swimming after next year's Olympic Games. The 25-year-old made the announcement on SEN radio, stating that the upcoming Olympics will be his last, as he will be 26 years old and ready to start the next chapter of his life. Chalmers burst onto the scene at the 2016 Rio Olympics, winning gold in the 100m freestyle event. Despite shoulder injuries, he has continued to perform well, winning silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and breaking records at various competitions. Chalmers will have to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics but is considered a strong contender.
