Iron Age Puzzle Solved as Unknown Warrior Finally Identified as British Warrior Woman

Archaeologists have finally identified the grave of an unknown warrior buried on the British isle of Scilly. The interred individual, discovered in 1999, was found with a sword and mirror, leaving the sex of the buried individual unknown. However, a recent study led by scientists at Historic England used traces of tooth enamel to determine that the warrior was female with a 96% probability. The combination of a sword and mirror suggests she had high status and may have played a commanding role in local warfare. This challenges previous assumptions about female involvement in violence during the Iron Age.
