98 arrested in child sex abuse probe launched after FBI agents killed

Nearly 100 people have been arrested in Australia and the United States in connection with a global online child abuse network. The arrests were made following the murder of two FBI agents in 2021, prompting an international investigation into an illicit online platform involved in sharing child abuse material on the dark web. The Australian Federal Police have charged 19 Australians, aged between 32 and 81, for their alleged involvement in the sophisticated digital network. The investigation, called "Operation Bakis," involved cooperation between Australian and US authorities and has led to the convictions of 43 people for child abuse offenses.
