Slovenia’s flood damage could top 500 million euros, its leader says

Slovenia has experienced its worst-ever natural disaster with devastating floods causing Damage estimated at 500 million euros ($550 million). The floods killed three people, destroyed roads, bridges, and houses, and affected two-thirds of the country. The floods were caused by torrential rains, with a month's worth of rain falling in less than a day. The extreme weather conditions are partly attributed to climate change. Road and energy infrastructure, as well as hundreds of homes, have been heavily impacted. Thousands of people have been evacuated and the army has joined the relief effort.
