The silvery gibbon, an endangered primate found in the forests of Java, Indonesia, is receiving attention and support from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the Aspinall Foundation. The Javan Primate Rehabilitation Centre has successfully reintroduced 55 Gibbons back into the wild out of the 71 they have taken in. The population of Silvery Gibbons may be as low as 2,500 due to poaching and deforestation. Other local efforts, such as Tini Kasmawati's self-funded banana deliveries to isolated gibbon populations, also aim to support the survival of these primates.
