Niger: first evacuation flight lands in Paris

The first Evacuation Flight from Niger has arrived in Paris following a coup that overthrew the country's democratically elected president. France, Italy, and Spain have announced evacuations for their citizens and other Europeans due to recent violence targeting the French Embassy in Niger's capital. Anti-French sentiment has been growing, with protesters chanting slogans supporting Russia and criticizing France. West African regional bloc ECOWAS has imposed travel and economic sanctions against Niger, and military leaders are considering deploying armed forces if the coup leaders do not reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum within one week. The new junta in Niamey has received support from the military governments in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea, who have warned against military intervention and called the sanctions against Niger "inhumane."
