China’s capital Beijing battered by heaviest rainfall in 140 years

Beijing, China's capital, has experienced the Heaviest Rainfall in 140 years, resulting in at least 20 deaths. The city recorded 744.8mm of rainfall between Saturday and Wednesday, the highest since 1891. The heavy storms were caused by Typhoon Doksuri, which made landfall in China's Xiamen and Quanzhou on Monday, causing severe flooding in Beijing. Over 31,000 people were evacuated, and construction work was halted. President Xi Jinping has called for search and rescue efforts, flood control, and disaster relief work. The red alert for flood in Beijing has been lifted as water levels in major rivers have decreased.
