Manipur: Security Beefed Up for Mass Burial of Deceased Kukis on August 3

Security has been tightened in Manipur ahead of the Mass Burial of 30-35 deceased individuals from the Kuki community. The burial is scheduled to take place near Sericulture farm, Buljang village, Churachandpur, which is a communally sensitive area on the boundary between the clashing communities of Kukis and Meitis. The Indigenous Tribal Leader Forum (ITLF) plans to carry out the burial at the designated spot, despite requests from authorities to change the location. The Central Government may intervene if necessary. Security has been increased in the region to prevent any untoward incidents.
