The Department of Energy (DOE) will provide $450 million to Install Rooftop Solar and battery back-up systems on the homes of vulnerable residents in Puerto Rico. The funding is part of the $1 billion Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund and aims to provide reliable and affordable energy to households that experience frequent power outages. The program will prioritize low-income households, particularly those who are medically vulnerable or live in remote communities. The initiative aims to address the persistent blackouts in Puerto Rico and support the territory in achieving a zero-emission grid by 2050.
