St. John’s families decry housing transfer process, as they deal with stressful living conditions

Families in St. John's, Newfoundland, are calling out the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC) for their handling of housing transfers. One woman, Jacinda McCormack, requested a transfer after experiencing conflict with her neighbor that escalated to physical assault and threats. Despite promises from the NLHC that she would be moved if charges were laid, her request was initially denied. After three years of asking, McCormack has now been added to a transfer list, which currently has 196 people waiting. Another couple, Maurice Doyle and Ashley Conte, also faced difficulties in obtaining a transfer due to safety concerns on Livingstone Street.
