People With Heart Failure Can Step Their Way to Significantly Better Health

A peer-reviewed study has found that increasing daily step Count can improve the Health of people with Heart Failure in just 12 weeks. The research suggests that wearable devices such as FitBits and step counters can provide clinically significant data. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan, used data from a trial involving 425 participants who were provided with a Fitbit and asked to complete questionnaires through a smartphone app. The study found that higher daily step counts were associated with improved health status. Changes in step count over time were also linked to changing scores, indicating that step count data from wearable devices could be used to inform clinical care.
