Woman Congress Activist Lynched in Bengal’s Murshidabad

A 64-year-old Congress woman activist, Khatun Bewa, was allegedly lynched by ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) activists in West Bengal's Murshidabad district. The incident occurred after miscreants, who were reportedly backed by the ruling party, hurled abuses at Bewa in front of her house. The younger brother of the deceased demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits, while a Trinamool Congress leader denied the allegations, claiming it was a result of a quarrel between neighbors. This incident brings the total number of casualties in the state since June 8 to 56, when the polling date for panchayat election was announced.
