South Africa’s president raises food security concerns in Russia-Africa summit

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa called for peace in Ukraine during his speech at the Russia-Africa summit in St Petersburg. He also expressed concern about food security in Africa due to Russia pulling out of a grain deal. Ramaphosa stated that the conflict in Ukraine negatively affects African countries and leads to increased fertilizer prices. The summit saw a significant drop in attendance, with only 17 African heads of state present compared to 43 in the previous summit.
