Engineers have developed a wearable ultrasound device that can Detect Breast Cancer. The device, a flexible patch that sits in the cups of a bra, can pick up tiny changes in breast tissue and has the potential to detect cancer at an early stage when the chances of survival are better. The device was invented by Dr Canan Dagdeviren, an MIT materials scientist, and is intended to allow for more frequent screening of women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer. The device has been tested on a 71-year-old woman and was able to detect cysts as small as a tenth of an inch.
