Pterosaur Dubbed ‘Elvis’ Because of Quiff-like Bony Crest on its Head 145 Million Years Ago

Paleontologists have discovered a new species of Pterosaur, nicknamed "Elvis," in a German rock quarry. The flying reptile, belonging to the clade Ctenochasmatidae, had a two-meter wingspan and a large Bony Crest on its head. It had a long jaw with small teeth, suggesting it fed on small fish and shrimp. The pterosaur is one of the largest from the late Jurassic period and had an expansion at the back of its skull that allowed for a stronger bite. The bony crest is believed to have been used as a sexual signal to other members of the species.
