Sinéad O’Connor, Grammy-award winning singer, dead at 56

Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has passed away at the age of 56, according to a statement from her family. The cause of death has not been disclosed. O'Connor gained fame with her 1990 hit song "Nothing Compares 2 U" and won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album in 1991. Throughout her career, she was known for her controversial actions, including ripping a photo of Pope John Paul II during a live performance on Saturday Night Live. O'Connor was open about her struggles with mental illness and her conversion to Islam in 2018. She is survived by three children.
