IRS is ending unannounced visits to taxpayers

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that it will no longer make Unannounced home and business visits, except in unique circumstances, in an effort to improve worker safety and combat scammers. Instead, the agency will mail letters to schedule meetings. The change comes in response to increased threats against IRS agents and concerns that personal information could be used to harm them. The National Treasury Employees Union has commended the decision.
