Italy calls for more equal relationship with migration producing states

She blamed people traffickers for exploiting the lives and suffering of migrants, rather than focusing solely on poverty and conflicts. Meloni convened a conference in Rome involving 20 nations, EU officials, and international organizations to address these issues. The conference aimed to make Italy a leader in resolving Mediterranean nation issues, including migration and energy. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suggested opening up legal avenues to migration, while Tunisian President Kais Saied attributed increased migration to European colonization.
