Brazil’s Lula Places New Restrictions on Gun Ownership

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has signed a decree tightening restrictions on civilian access to guns in the country. The new rules reduce the number of guns civilians can possess from four to two, limit ammunition for each gun to 50 rounds, and require documentation proving the need for the weapons. The decree also prohibits civilians from owning 9 mm pistols, restricting them to the police and military. The move aims to reverse the pro-firearms policies of Lula's right-wing predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, and regain responsible control over guns in Brazil.
