India Has 22 Critically Endangered Species of Animals and Birds, Says Centre

The Indian government has identified 22 Species of animals, birds, and aquatic animals as Critically Endangered and is providing financial support to states and Union Territories that have these species. The identified species include Snow Leopards, Dolphins, Marine Turtles, and Red Pandas, among others. These species are also protected under the centrally sponsored scheme called Development of Wildlife Habitats. Steps have been taken to protect these animals, including the creation of a network of protected areas and the enforcement of laws against hunting and commercial exploitation. The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau coordinates efforts to combat poaching and unlawful trade.
