Monsoon floods threaten India’s iconic Taj Mahal

India's Monsoon Floods have caused the Yamuna river to rise so high that it is now lapping at the walls of the Taj Mahal for the first time in almost 50 years. The floods have also submerged a garden behind the iconic monument. However, the Archaeological Survey of India has stated that the floodwater is unlikely to enter the monument itself. This year's heavy monsoon rains and extreme weather events are believed to be a result of climate change, putting millions of people in India at risk. Additionally, air pollution is threatening the Taj Mahal's white marble.
