The Indian Railways has announced plans to Offer Affordable Meals and packaged water to general coach passengers in order to enhance their travel experience. The meals will be divided into two categories, with type one costing Rs 20 and type two costing Rs 50. The meals will be supplied from the kitchen units of IRCTC. Counters serving these meals will be placed on platforms aligning with the general coaches. The provision of these extended service counters is being implemented on an experimental basis for a period of six months at 51 stations, with plans to expand to 13 more stations.
